It Took a Pen and Paper

My scribbles may be sloppy, and some too sloppy for some readers, so I will write the words below, but it took a pen and paper to come up with these words. Sometimes there’s something too mechanical about pounding the keys of a computer, and my creative mind refuses to engage. It was a pen and paper that brought me these, some of my favorite words I’ve written in awhile, so I feel it is a disservice to not share them as they came to me.

It Took a Pen and Paper

Empty words

once empty lines

designed with birds

in mind

fill with nests

inter-twined

I feel my heart pace

and palpitate

and it stays in place

but won’t sate

the great wait

for love

or a distant fate

Distant as the sky or sea

or somewhere in the

in-between

wherever my love might

find me

or where I kiss the sickle

of the man who

grimly

Reaps.

I fill the lines with my mind this time.
