Defending your religion
Is just arguing semantics
Who hasn’t entered a shouting match
After they’ve left their echo chamber
Defended their hill
Because, to them, it’s the higher ground
Who hasn’t felt the sting of alienation
As they speak with someone who has no desire seeing eye to eye
But it’s all semantics
Jesus died for you
Brothers die for their country
Spouses die to themselves for one another
Same trope, different setting
Redemption stories to the umpteenth degree
Love yourself
Love your neighbor
Love your enemy
Semantics.
As for the heated debates
I respect impassioned opinion
I love the integrity of keeping a vow
And I admire the strength required to carry the weight of values
Without letting a single one drop
For anyone
