Lines

I got lost in the stars tonight

and, in what felt like the very first time

I discovered imaginary lines

between the ever-present light

They connected to the palm of my hand

and from there, to my heart and all that I am

They burned, so I could hardly stand

I fell to my knees, grabbing fistfuls of sand

If this is all there is

Discovery in purporting bliss

Then I would be amiss

To not follow the star’s example of intrinsic glitz
