Unable to Move for All the Best Reasons

Some days my neck can hardly lift my head

Weighed down with thoughts of things I should have said

But last night my heart weighed down my chest

As my feather head laid in your hand, caressed

The things a heart ought to confess

If the mind has the presence to egress

But maybe this all turned out for the best

Because it’s you who would remain motionless

If my mind and my heart

Expressed your loveliness

Instead, I will shoulder the weight of your love

As my mind asks my heart what to dream of

All day long, in poetry and prose

My heart will pound out the words my mind knows

Just know that tomorrow, you will see the dawn

Smiling, limbs weak as a fawn

Some time around noon, you’ll give me a call

Rolling around, laughing, and together

We’ll fall
