Peaces in Tow

I keep looking back

To see the man I used to be

“If only he were still me,

if only I kept that piece”

And I keep looking forward

To see the man I’m meant to be

“This is what I need,

that will bring me peace”

Finally, I look in the mirror

Dark circles ’round eyes that don’t see

“I just need some sleep,

then I will speak my piece”

Ever anon it goes

the ineffectual prose

of things you’ll never know

living with peaces in tow
