I Pray the Sun Will Rise

I silence my disquieted heart

with a pitter-patter

of all that matters

the lofty Autumn leaves

asphyxiating sinter

snow of deepest winter

Covert and covered up

my muffled mouth spatters

piffle of Mad Hatter

I pray the sun will rise

that licentious taunter

that I might gaily saunter

For now, my heart will sleep

as I pray the Lord my soul to keep

should I die before I wake

let it be for another muted rain’s sake
