A Most Inopportune Time

My muse often visits me at most inconvenient times

With two crows making love on a lamppost

When one flies into the city to tell Johnny

Something of an urgent manner

“Finish up your delivery, and we shall move on with our lives”

Warm pizza left in front of an apartment

Running from the knocks on the door

Like children playing ding dong ditch

And we all wonder why it is

That leaves feel the need to blush in autumn and bloom in spring

And why we even care in the first place

Sitting on the park bench is an elderly man

It’s always somewhere akin to Central Park

Or nowhere remarkable at all

and I assume his name is George

But that’s a long story

For another day when my muse

Visits me at a most inopportune time
