The flavorful words
The ones that leave my heart beaming
The ones that taste like sun-kissed honeydew on a spring afternoon
Those that I long for
When my fingers go numb
After-effects of a cold heartbreak
Or simply a hibernation of inhibitions
The flavorful words
The ones that are surrounded
By ooh and aahs
That calm the heart like a lavender breeze
Or like psitherism, or the awakened sea
They are far less rare to me
When she touches the small of my back so tenderly
The flavorful words
Sometimes absurd
Sweet as apple curd
Not ridiculous, I’m assured
And like thick, sweet caramel, must be stirred
With the arms of strong men paired with a childish candor
My Love has brought me flavorful words
And so I give back to you, childish and unsure
