Elegant Tracings

Elegant tracings

As my fingers traverse

Your sloping body

And your lips, pursed

You’ll be an outline

Imprint on my heart

Shaping how I see

This world’s many parts

The flowing Nile river

Met by crested shore

Crystalline blue tide pools

Like infinite glass doors

A small shark fin held skyward

That crinkles with delight

Reddish-pink sweet passionfruits

Best tasted day and night

Then, sweeping down a silk-smooth bridge

Where broad frame lies firm and still

Along birch branches, strong and thin

Tipped with tender quills

Vast desert plains made to explore

For years without a respite

Honey-hives that offer more

Than simple confiture exquisite

Along a glassy firth I come

Which ends in a secret waterfall

Drinking waters that affect me like rum

Surrounded by stony walls

As the end of journey draws near

And I lay at the tips of her toes

I look up at my Lover-dear

And make my way back to kiss her nose
