The Edge of All We Know

The sun’s final rays melt into the horizon

As a dark, peaceful dusk envelops this edge of the world

And, as if to say, “rest awhile, you’ve done well for today”

The lighthouse establishes its own heliocentricity

Allowing a restful sleep to enter those within and without the world

And the universe of cosmic bodies gathers

Packing around tightly

To peer in and gaze at the sleeping sun

And the minutiae who play guardian

At the edge of all we know
