Where did I learn the most about the night sky
The stars and constellations, their path as they glide
The way their very motion can be a sage guide
How some may be souls that lived a good life
And where did I learn about the sunrise
How it brings a new day, wisdom to leave what’s behind
The dark before the dawn bringing life brighter brights
Birds early and ever on the wing want not for delight
And last, why do I fear my life may be trite
When I’ve lived through the night
And I’ve seen dawn’s first light
No two nights have had identical twilight
I’ve learned as I’ve lived, and will be wise with hindsight
