Slugs and Snails, Butterflies and Bees

Open your hands and walk through your garden
Is there dirt beneath your nails?
Do the vines creep, does the willow weep
Are there holes from the slugs and the snails?

Do you ever take time to sing sweet nothings
Even if the flowers only reach your knees
Your fence may obscure the sight to your neighbor
But if you take care, they’ll attract butterflies and bees
