Along a Crested Shoreline

The last four years have seen tumultuous tides
Along a crested shoreline
I smile at the past and can’t help but deride
The things I used to confine

Now the open sea lies before me
And it’s much easier to steel
My heart against all the storms that be
And set off with naught to conceal
