Thank You, Daily Post

It is a very bittersweet moment knowing that Daily Post will no longer be publishing new content. I understand that everything runs a course, and that course does not last forever. I am proud of them for all they have done, including their decision to move on to new ideas, “…focusing our attention on other projects that help WordPress.com remain the best place on the web to publish, build an audience, and find a community.” (Taken from this post.)

Their hearts and minds are in the right place, and it is an important, albeit undoubtedly difficult decision to do what’s best for the website, not just for one page or the individual moderators that upkeep their site.

I want to thank The Daily Post for all they have done and continue to do to forge community and excellent writing. I got my start here on WordPress and acquired my first audience via Daily Prompts, and I can honestly say that anyone who is reading this post right now would likely have never heard from me or of me if it were not for the catalyst of one-word prompts that jogged my imagination and creativity.

In fact, I would never have started writing on my blog at all because I could never think of creative things to write while at work until that one word appeared, giving me something to build off of. In fact, I don’t know how bearable my job will be without some spark of inspiration.

My creativity was spurned on by them, my repertoire of content was built off of their foundation, almost all of my followers come from some branch of their efforts…

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Daily Post for being the springboard for my blog, my emotional health, and my fire as a writer. You will be missed, you have done very well. Thank you.

  1. I couldn’t agree more with you. Those daily prompts have been triggers for my creativity every single day since the day I started blogging. Hoping they would come back with a much better option. I’m pretty sure such a team of talented people will not less us down.

    1. I’m going to be scouring WP to see what their next brilliant idea is. They will probably have something like The Daily Post or the Daily Prompts, it just won’t be under the same name, and might include different involvement from the community.
