Ship in a Bottle

I bought a ship in a bottle

And set it out to sea

Hoping my captain

Would one day find me

Reckless and hopeless

And timeless and free

Splinters on the shore

Bowed head and bent knee

Put my heart in a bottle

And set it to the breeze

It danced alongside kites

And the birds and the bees

From that day on

It didn’t belong to me

In hindsight, there’s something wrong

With a fragile heartbeat
