A Deep Pulse

The city has a deep pulse

Throbbing at first light

I’d love to indulge

But I dare not explore the rite

It is not the effervescent vim

Of a hopeful start

And not a melodic hymn

The end to a dutiful art

So I join the rhythmic march

Walking slightly out of step

Never succumbing to their starch

Maintaining my flow and depth

Welcome to my mind. Watch the first step, it's a doozy.
