Write myself a little tale
About a hat or ‘haps a whale
Just to make the time pass quick
And trim my thoughts ‘fore they grow thick
Thick with reason and with doubt
Thick with scurrying about
Hurry, before I start my day
Before these thoughts run away
Join the humpback as he flies
Don the hat; be its disguise
Sing the toadstool fast asleep
That hummingbirds may earn their keep
