The Long Walk

The day is bright
And the walk is long
From here on to the evening
But the trees are muttering
Lovely sweet nothings
Mayhaps some things
About how beautifully you’d sing
If you sang along with them
Before you’d know it
It would be twilight
And you’d sing
Straight on till morning
