The Pause Dare

So often we are whisked into the day
Before we can think of what words to pray
And should we ever die before we wake
That’s one less path we will blindly take

Life sometimes happens to the unaware
But there are those of us who have learned to stop and stare
To breathe in the fog that chills the morning air
To realize that a pause is its own type of dare
