A Life So Brief

Where does time go
If not into the back of out minds
Like coves of small closets
Where, occasionally, we find

The scent of an autumn breeze
The taste of a Lover’s kiss
The friends we had forgotten
And the ones we’re glad to miss

I open this door and that
Stumbling upon smiles and grief
And I wonder to myself
How could so much be here in a life so brief
