That I Could Be a Comfort

Would that I could be a comfort
As comfort comes to me
Spread a cherished smile
As I become happy
Drape a coat on shoulders
To keep one from the freeze
Empty my full pockets
On all I see in need

But I remember, more than once
The hands and hearts of greed
My own, yes, of course
And those that took from me
Were I a better man
Then I could better see
Who wants to take all for themselves
And who would share as they no longer need
