A Sharp Chime in the Distance

I used to hear a sharp chime in the distance
From the old clock in the town square
It rang out the hour
And each one devoured
All the moments that I spent there

Now I hear nothing, not guilt nor forgiveness
And I’ve moved to a new town where
There are only towers
And their greatest power
Is silence that leaves us unaware
