I Swear I Don’t Mean To Be Negative

I’m not sure I could put my mind into words

And if I could, it wouldn’t be terribly kind

But not because I hate you or me

But I’m prone to believe a million lies

I’m sure it gets old, my dear friend

And I try not to wear my welcome out

But my demons have worn their welcome and worn me out

And now I’m asking you take my hand and pull me out

I don’t care how meaningful

I will always beat myself up for rhyming one word with the same

And for irregular rhyme and meter

But here we are

And none of it takes its toll

Like myself when I’m left all alone

(For those truly concerned, I promise I’m okay. I just have to purge the negativity sometimes to make room for the real me.)
