Un-One

There once was a time
When I feared for all the worst
My mind would not get off it
My daily bread, a hearse
I walked about, an un-person
Just like in Neverwhere
And if I fell through the cracks
Not a soul would care
I later came to find
With anxiety as my wage
I was destined for that life
As I lived inside my ribcage
Until… Until! I came unfrozen
The permafrost undone
I knew who I was
I was a no-one
A no-one can start writing
A no-one can sing
A no-one can become some-one
And some-one can become king
Yet even if my words
All fall on deaf ears
A some-one opens themselves up
While un-ones hide their fears
