Faint

‘Tis a faint halo that hems in the moon

A reminder that it is enslaved here, too

By its own beauty, its Clair de Lune

Much like the hearts it shines to woo

Are we not all but silhouette

As such, ’tis only shadows we beget

The shrouds that encompass each starlet

Illuminate dreams and prayers unmet

Footprints on the sand, then, are soul-deep

And as I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my soul to keep

That, into the world, my light might seep

Faint

My name is December Rose… Well, that’s not entirely true, but I prefer that name as a writer. Just like everyone else, I’m not just a writer. I’m also not just a musician, engineer, coffee enthusiast, or child, but I am all of those things and plus a bit more. I’ve lived life and had my share of wonderful and regrettable experiences, and found that my place…

Starlit Anarchy

The whispers of dawn de-throne streetlights Who they themselves committed mutiny in an outcry What other reason does the dark need for corruption Except that it was led by a false light, a half-light But now the half-light has had its anarchy The darkness, its unwholesome frivolity and revelry So I say to the sunrise:... In The Softness

This is such a wonderful post and message, especially for where I am at in life, especially on a Wednesday. Fits with the post I wrote earlier today as well. Be sure to check it out and give Drawing Back The Curtain a like and follow!

This morning I pulled a card from my beautiful new Yantra Deck, the Art of Being Present, that I found in Nelson, BC, on my little road trip. The card was Simplicity’ and it inspired the following journal entry, which I would like to share with you on this Thanksgiving Day here in Canada:

“I love being in the here and now, immersing myself in the peacefulness that I find beneath the busyness of my mind. The soothing freshly brewed nettle tea brings warmth to the inside, while the crackling fire in wood stove wraps me in its warmth on the outside.

Life feels so simple in this moment and so full, as Raven glides by, clucking its unique sound in agreement perhaps. The ‘trying to figure it all out’ mind has receded into the background for now. I can tune into it if I wish, but I don’t, staying…

We collect “I love you’s” as though they were a currency, and to be honest, I can’t think of anything more valuable than hearing the words “I love you”. Some people understand the value of them, and some people don’t. Some rarely spend any, giving them only to the people who are most dear. Some give them out flippantly almost degrading what the worth of “I love you” is. The truth is, no matter where in the spectrum you lie, we always wish we could have said “I love you” at least one more time.

I wonder how many “I love you’s” were said last night while gunfire rained down on thousands of people.i wonder how many people wished they had said “I love you” to that one person. Just one more time. Lord knows, there are too many people I would like to say that too. So many left…

Shimmer in Blue

I was designed                               for a shimmer in blue                       for a merry sailor tune for all of the things                                      that titillate you I can see                                  the wide open sea                                  the salt air breeze like a veil and ring                            like my bride to be and so                        I ebb and flow                                    I ne'er let go let the words sing                      into an ocean...
